Just arrived in:
A special collection of finely bound books, including edge painted books. Also books about bookbinding.

We've finally finished turning Room 3 into The Coffee Room! Drop in for a delicious choice of coffee from our range, or try the tea, hot chocolate, or one of our herbal selection, starting at just £1.00. Please note - No books were harmed in the making of this room (we've simply relocated them to more suitable places elsewhere in the department!)
With two floors, 14 rooms and over 100,000 books, the Second Hand Department is a veritable Aladin's cave with more subjects than you can imagine, as well as prints and sheet music. Please ask our friendly staff for any assistance you may require.
Sections include Fiction, Local Interest, Natural History, Topography, Sport, Railways & Transport, Maps, Children's Books, Gardening, Cookery, Crafts, Music, Poetry, Drama & Film, Foreign Language, Reference, Humour, Military History, Photography & Collecting, Art & Architecture, Biography, History, Politics, Social Sciences, Self Help & Medicine, Science & Technology, Theology, Philosophy, Mind, Body & Spirit and much more.
Remember - don't forget to look in the "Internet Book Room", situated just behind the till on the first floor. It contains some of our rarer and more valuable on a variety of subjects, all of which are listed on our computor system and available for purchase on line, either via email, or our sites on Abebooks and Amazon.
Whilst we are usually happy to buy books, please contact us before bringing them into the shop. The buyer may not be in, or we may have a large backlog to deal with first.
Our details can be found on our Contacts page.

16th March 2010 - We have acquired a good collection of Philosophy and Political Philosophy books. Remember, Philosophy is now situated upstairs with Religion.
26th January 2010 - A selection of great quality railways books, including some rather rare and specialist volumes are out on the shelves (now in Room 6a), with a number of the more sought-after titles up for sale on the internet. In addition, we have recently aquired a full 16 volume set of the poetry of Walter Savage Landor from the late 1920s - early 1930s in wonderful condition, dustjackets and all.
