FEATURED BOOK
Illustrations by Gustave Doré
2 Volumes. Hardback, large 4to. Cassell & Co, 1906. Volume One = Good ++, Volume 2 = Very Good, bound in red cloth with black and gilt lettering to front and spine. Some fading to covers, sunning and rubbing to spine of volume one but otherwise in very good condition. Binding is secure and tight. Internally in very good condition, no marks/annotation.
The reason we like these volumes so much are the plates. Gustave Doré's fabulously grim and almost macabre engravings have to be seen to be believed. Page after page of intricate and highly impressive illustations really make the story come to life. The books are also very attractive, with the binding cleverly stamped and the text is laid out in a beautiful fashion. Perfect for fans of the classic work, fans of the artist or book collectors everywhere. Photographs available on request.
Price - £250.00 + P&P (heavy books)
